Privacy Policy

How On This Holiday handles information in the app and on this website.

On This Holiday is developed and operated by Ian Clawson, an individual based in Missouri, United States ("On This Holiday," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy applies to the On This Holiday iOS app and the website at onthisholiday.com.

Our approach to privacy

On This Holiday does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or payment-card information to use the app. We do not sell personal information, serve targeted advertising, or track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

Information stored on your device

The app stores information needed for its features on your device. This may include preferences, favorite holidays, reminder settings, notification choices, onboarding progress, and similar app state. This information is not uploaded to us as a user profile. You can remove locally stored app information by deleting the app, subject to information retained by Apple as part of your purchase history.

Anonymous app analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand overall trends in how the app is used, such as whether onboarding steps are viewed or completed and how often broad categories of features are used. Firebase Analytics may process a pseudonymous app instance identifier, app interactions, session information, and technical details such as app version, device type, operating-system version, language, and general geographic region.

We do not send Firebase Analytics your name, email address, Apple Account, advertising identifier, holiday selections, search queries, reminder text, support messages, or generated content. We do not set a Firebase user ID or use Firebase Analytics for advertising or cross-app tracking. Analytics events are used to evaluate aggregate product trends, not to identify individual people.

Crash reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and improve reliability. When the app crashes or encounters a reported technical failure, Crashlytics may receive a stack trace, relevant application state, device and operating-system information, app version, and diagnostic logs or keys related to the failure. We do not assign your name, email address, or a custom user ID to crash reports.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment information, and we do not receive your complete payment-card details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, manage access to paid features, restore purchases, and understand subscription performance.

RevenueCat may process an anonymous app user identifier, purchase receipts, product identifiers, purchase and subscription history, entitlement status, app version, operating-system and device information, locale, currency, and related technical information. We do not provide RevenueCat with your name, email address, or a custom identifying account ID. RevenueCat is used for purchase functionality and purchase analytics, not advertising or cross-app tracking.

Notifications and reminders

If you enable notifications, the app uses Apple's notification permissions and iOS scheduling capabilities to deliver the reminders you choose. You can change or revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings. Reminder content is not sent to us for analytics.

Support communications

If you contact us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include in your message, such as diagnostic details or screenshots. We use this information to respond, provide support, prevent abuse, and improve the app. Please do not include sensitive personal information that is not needed to resolve your request.

Website information

The website is a static marketing and support site. It does not provide accounts or expose the app's holiday catalog. Cloudflare provides website hosting, delivery, security, and privacy-focused Web Analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage to recognize visitors over time. It provides aggregated information such as visits, page views, referring sites, approximate country, browser, device type, and page-performance measurements. Cloudflare may also process ordinary request information, including IP addresses and security logs, to deliver and protect the website.

How we use and disclose information

We use the limited information described above to:

We disclose information only to service providers that perform these functions for us, including Apple, RevenueCat, Google Firebase, and Cloudflare; when you direct us to do so; or when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our rights, or protect safety and security. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments.

Retention and deletion

Information stored locally remains on your device until you remove it or delete the app. We configure Firebase Analytics event-level data for a two-month retention period; aggregate reports that no longer identify an app instance may remain available for longer. Crash, purchase, hosting, and security records are retained by our providers only as needed to provide their services, maintain security, comply with financial or legal obligations, and resolve disputes, subject to their retention practices.

Support correspondence is ordinarily retained only as long as needed to address the request and maintain reasonable business records, generally no longer than 24 months after the last correspondence unless a longer period is required for legal, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Because we do not operate user accounts and our analytics identifiers are pseudonymous, we may be unable to connect an email request to analytics or purchase records. You can stop future app analytics collection by removing the app. You may also contact us to request access to or deletion of information you have provided directly, such as a support message. Apple controls App Store purchase records and purchase-related privacy requests concerning your Apple Account.

Children's privacy

On This Holiday is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

International use

Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from those where you live. The providers listed above maintain their own safeguards for applicable international data transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app, website, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update its effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
